Parkside is a 'Good' school

13 May 2016 (by Mrs Atkinson (parksidepri))

Parkside Primary is celebrating after Ofsted inspectors ruled it is now a 'good' school.

In its latest Ofsted report, inspectors say Parkside is rated as good for overall effectiveness and four of the five key measures. The school had previously been rated as 'requiring improvement' but inspectors say it is now rapidly improving. Their new report says strong leadership has brought about swift improvement to teaching and the rates of pupils' progress. Teaching is now described as good, and all groups of pupils, including those who are disadvantaged or with special educational needs, are achieving well. The curriculum is described as lively, varied and exciting, sparking the interests of pupils through a range of activities which draw upon their developing key skills. As a result, pupils enjoy lessons and are keen to learn more. The school's ethos of care, tolerance and respect is said to make a strong contribution to pupils' learning, attitudes and personal development. The report says pupils feel safe, trust the adults around them and work well with each other. Behaviour around the school is good. Governors are now providing good support and challenge to senior leaders in addressing issues, and have fully put in place recommendations from the previous Ofsted report. The inspectors found that the school's early years provision still requires improvement, but headteacher Sam O'Brien said further improvements are already underway and the school is delighted that it is now ranked as 'good'. 'Parkside as a whole community - including pupils, staff, parents and the wider community - has worked very hard for this judgement and I would like to congratulate everyone involved in moving our school forwards," she said. "We still have lots of further improvements that we are planning and will quickly address the points raised during the inspection. We are ambitious to improve our provision further for our children and will continue to strive for excellence." Chair of governors Margaret Price said: "We are delighted with the outcome of the Ofsted inspection. It has been a fantastic team effort and I am so proud of everyone's hard work."
